Celebrate Highland culture, traditional craft and deep nature connection, with this bespoke immersion in the Scottish Highlands.
We welcome you to a weekend at the Shieling, to immerse in activities such as craft, storytelling, Gaelic song, Highlander survival skills, willow weaving,, wood-work and more!
Hosted by the Shieling Collective and special guests, a choice of workshops will be offered over the weekend, with fine food and ceilidh time by the fire.
Open to all craft & culture-lovers & learners, from experienced to complete beginner -
Craft workshop options:
Saturday & Sunday: Traditional Creel Basket-Weaving (this is a 2-day workshop)
The rest of the options are mix & match, choose one activity Saturday & one on Sunday.

Foraging, Wild food(venison pit roast) learn the ancient art of cooking in the ground, wrapping wild meat in foliage & cooking by fire!

Venue
The Shieling site is nestled in glen Strathfarrar, through which the river Farrar runs (renowned for its Salmon).
Surrounded by mountain and birch, this glen feels wild and remote yet is only 40 minutes drive West of Inverness.
Activities will take place both out on the land and in purpose built workshop spaces. Camping and cabin options available.

We have a few partial work-trade places available for those who may be interested. Get in touch to inquire. We would also be happy to do a family discount for those who may be interested. Note that this event is not a ''family camp'' but we welcome children and families to participate.
Accommodation
Default accommodation is camping, with cabin upgrades upon enquiry.
Bunk dorm 6 person - 20 per night for the duration (bring sleeping bag/pillow, bed sheet provided)
Single occupancy bothy - 80 per night, 150 for the weekend. (2 nights)
Shared occupancy bothy twin - 60 per night, 100 for the weekend.(2 nights)
Food
The camp kitchen is available for use for breakfast, we advise participants to pack your own lunch, and a simple dinner will be provided both evenings.
