Our Yearly Cycle of events reflects the Celtic Wheel of the Year, with activities, skills and practices to match the traditions tied to each season.
Each season we will host a larger scale Gathering, as well as shorter and smaller programs such as retreats, immersive courses/trainings and group visits/programs throughout the seasons. All our programs offer direct, experiential learning to gain the hard and soft skills required to live a Shieling life, including:
Traditional Skills and Heritage Crafts: Such as basketry, wool spinning/weaving/felting, hide tanning, natural building, traditional masonry, and more.
Scottish Culture : Storytelling, song, music, traditions, histories of resistance, stewardship & care.
Land Stewardship : Crofting, animal husbandry, animal processing, dairy production, regenerative forestry and agriculture, herbalism and natural medicine.
Community & Personal Practices: Systems of support and mutual-aid, mindfulness, joyful living, building personal ceremony, autonomy and resilience: grounded in Gaelic culture.
Intersectional Solidarity: Connecting with other movements for cultural reclamation, language activism, land-defence, working class wellbeing, anti-racism, migrant justice, etc. ~ to share tactics, visions, hope, songs, resources and more.
Programs for diaspora Gaels: Seeking to return to Scotland to re-connect with cultural roots, Gaelic language, Scottish culture, heritage and identity.
Gaelic Culture: Gaelic language learning, blessings for day-to-day life, lifeways and cosmology ~ instructed by native and proficient Gaelic speakers and culture-bearers.
